Daimonji Fire Festival Evening [Ends August 16, 2024].

August 16. The Gozan Bonfires light up the night sky in summer. Along with the Gion Festival, it is one of the most famous summer festivals in Kyoto.
The Chinese character for "large" is on Higashiyama, followed by "Myo-ho" on Matsukezaki, "Funagata" on Nishigamo, "Left Daimonji" on Daikokuyama, and "Torii-gata" on Saga.
All of these bonfires are registered as Intangible Folk Cultural Properties of Kyoto City.
From the windows of Chorakukan, the "Large," "Myo-Ho" and "Funakata" can be seen from each of the rooms on the third and second floors.

The event will be held in conjunction with the Gozan Bonfire from 20:00 on the day of the event,
After dinner, the special "Onari-no-Ma" (usually closed to the public), the tea ceremony room, and rooms on the second floor will be open to the public.
Please enjoy the bonfire from Chorakukan, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

**This year's Daimonji Fireworks Evening has come to an end. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all those who came to the event. Thank you very much.
