[Art Festival] Chorakukan, Piano Trio Concert [Ends Sep. 30, 2023 (Sat.)

To express our gratitude for your patronage, we will hold the Art Festival in CHOURAKUKAN.
The theme of the Art Festival 2023 is "Welcome to the Guest House.
We will offer a variety of events to give you a taste of the hospitality of Chorakukan, a guest house of the Meiji era.

Chorakukan Piano Trio Concert

  • Date: Saturday, September 30, 2023 (Registration at 16:30) Held from 17:00 to 17:50
  • Venue: "Terrace CORAL" banquet room, 1F, Chorakukan New Wing
  • An autumn evening concert by a violinist, cellist and pianist active in Kyoto.

Speakers

       
  • Violin: Mayumi Morimoto
    Born in Nagasaki City, she began playing the violin at the age of eight under the tutelage of the late Masahide Inoue.
    After graduating from the Kyoto City University of Arts with a Bachelor of Music degree, she completed her graduate studies in instrumental music at the same university. She won a special prize at the 3rd KOBE International Music Competition for Students.
    She has studied violin under Kyoko Sugaya, Momoo Kishibe, and Midori Kugata.
    He is currently a member of the Kyoto Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble, the Kyoto Baroque Instrument Ensemble, and the Amsel Piano Trio,
    Violinist of the Eirene Quartet.
  • Piano: Yusuke Satake
    Graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts at the top of his class. Completed the master's course at Kyoto City University of Arts. He studied at the Freiburg University of Music and Performing Arts as an exchange student.
    Won prizes at the Takarazuka Vega Music Competition and other competitions. He received the Kyoto Art Festival Newcomer's Prize.
    Performs concertos with the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra, Kyoto Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble, Izumi Sinfonietta Osaka, and others.
    Appeared as soloist and accompanist on NHK-FM's "Recital Nova".
    He is also active as an orchestral player, playing piano solo in "Petrushka" (Kyoto Symphony Orchestra, Large Philharmonic Orchestra, and Hyogo Geibun Orchestra) and "Machinin Aristocrats" (Kyoto Philharmonic Orchestra).
  • Cello: Hibiki Sato
    After graduating from Kyoto Municipal Music High School, he went on to Kyoto City University of Arts, graduating first in his class. Upon graduation, he received the Music Department Prize and the Kyoto Music Society Prize.
    He has studied under Kazutaka Ameda and Noboru Uemura, and until 2018 was a cellist of the Kyoto Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble.
    Studied in Paris for six months starting in 2019; recital in Kyoto in 2021.
    Performed on NHK-FM's "Recital Passio" in May 2022. Representative of the Kyoto Chamber Ensemble and member of Quartet Mio Shijo.
    Part-time instructor at Kyoto Horikawa Music High School.

    Special viewing of "Onsei-no-ma & Choraku-an (usually closed to the public)" on the 3rd floor of Chorakukan (11:00 - 18:00)
     Onari-no-Ma, a shoin-style Japanese-style room and Chorakuan, a tea ceremony room, located on the third (top) floor of the main building, will be open to the public for two days only.
    Okura Toen x Chiso Special Exhibition "Surrounded by Nature" (11:00-18:00)
     In the Guest Room on the first floor of the main building, Okura Toen's pottery, including works that can be considered the pinnacle of Okura's pottery, created in collaboration with Chiso, a long-established Kyoto yuzen shop, will be on display and for sale.
    Viewing of Chorakukan motif and fashion show by Kyoto Women's University students (10:30-10:45)
     Costume production and fashion show by twinkle, Kyoto Women's University Apparel Planning and Production Department on the 2nd floor of the main building, featuring each room of Chorakukan.
     Collaboration cakes by Kyoto Women's University students and Chorakukan patissiers will also be on sale.
