Named "Chorakukan" by Hirobumi Ito, the first Prime Minister of Japan, it is a pavilion for guests and socializing.

Dinner & Lunch

The dining room was once the center of hospitality as the Feast Room. The light from the chandelier glistens off the plaster sculptures in the glamorous space of bygone days, Chef Hashimoto's classic French cuisine can be enjoyed in the glamorous space of the past.

Chourakukan FRENCH LE CHENE

Breakfast

The breakfast served by the chef of FRENCH LE CHENE at Chourakukan is exclusively for guests staying at the hotel. A simple breakfast course is served, including freshly squeezed juices, fresh salads with original dressings, and egg dishes made with eggs from Kyoto's Ohara region.

Teatime

Located on the first and second floors of the Meiji-era Western-style "Chourakukan" building, Dessert Cafe Chourakukan can be enjoyed in different style rooms. Afternoon tea can be enjoyed in the rococo style dining room. Seasonal desserts, light snacks, and beverages are served at the café's seating area, and guests may choose one free soft drink from the café.

Private Bar

The "LIBRARY" in LIBRARY BAR MADEIRA comes from the fact that this room used to be a study. The bar is the hotel's front desk during the day and a private bar at night. Please choose your favorite wine as if you were selecting a book from a bookshelf. We serve a variety of alcohol including Madeira wine, a beautiful wine from Portugal.

Onari no Ma, Chourakuan (usually closed to the public)

In front of you is a view of the Higashiyama Mountains that changes with the seasons and serves as a borrowed landscape. At a time when it was common to have Japanese and Western-style buildings coexist in separate buildings, Kichihei Murai's bold architectural approach of incorporating a Japanese-style room into a Western-style building still surprises visitors. Normally closed to the public, the building is open to guests on request.

Chourakukan BOUTIQUE's gifts made with the finest ingredients and the most ingenious manufacturing methods. Chourakukan is the guest house of Kichibei Murai, who was called the "King of Tobacco. We sell sweets and baked goods named after his cigarettes, as well as jams and dressings that can be enjoyed during afternoon tea or breakfast. They make great gifts for your loved ones or souvenirs that can only be purchased here.

Hieizan Enryakuji Temple "Daishoin

Kichibei Murai was the industrialist who built Chourakukan. Hotel Chourakukan offers a special tour of the "Daishoin" for a limited time only.

Chion-in Special Viewing

Chion-in, the head temple of the Jodo sect, with its impressive Sanmon Gate, one of the largest wooden gates in Japan, rising above the stone steps. We have prepared a special accommodation plan that allows you to enjoy a private special visit to this historic temple in Kyoto. Monks will guide you to the Main and Small Hojo, the Sutra Repository, the Bell Tower, famous for the New Year's bell, and the inner sanctuary of the National Treasure, Mikageido, which is normally closed to the public.

Geisha and Maiko Ochaya play experience

This plan offers a chance to encounter the Japanese style of Kyoto at the Onarimono Room on the 3rd floor of Chorakukan, a tangible cultural property of Kyoto City (not usually open to the public). In this private and reserved space, you can experience a tea house game with gei-maiko and watch them dance.

Private English Rakugo in the Onari Room

This is a special plan to rent the Onarimono Room on the 3rd floor of the Chorakukan, a tangible cultural property of Kyoto City (normally closed to the public), and enjoy English Rakugo by rakugo storyteller Shiharu Tachikawa. Experience Japanese culture through English rakugo performed by Shino Haru Tachikawa, who is fluent in English.
