Japanese Tea Fair [April 11 - June 16, 2024].

A new "Japanese" theme to be tasted in a Western-style building, the fair will feature tea from Kyoto's Ippodo Tea House paired with dishes and sweets.
Visitors can enjoy a variety of teas made in Japan, including domestic black tea, fresh green tea, and even hojicha and matcha at the restaurant.
FRENCH LE CHENE pairs three types of tea to accompany each course.
Dessert Cafe Chorakukan will offer "Parfait Japonais" paired with domestic black tea and "Marjolaine" paired with new tea.
 
Wa" stands for "Japanese" tea and "harmony," in other words, pairing with Western sweets and cuisine.
Please enjoy the new "harmony" expressed by Chorakukan.

    Attractive Japanese teas, such as mizuidashi hojicha for the main dish, enrich the flavor of French cuisine.

Taste domestically produced black tea

  • Ippodo Tea Shop Domestic black tea
  • The domestic black tea handled by Ippodo Tea Shop was born in a sencha field.
    Carefully crafted from green tea varieties, it is aromatic and somewhat reminiscent of Japanese tea.
    Please enjoy this gentle, deeply flavored, slightly sweet tea without astringency even when served straight with sweets from Chorakukan.
    Domestic black tea from Ippodo Tea House will be available as a drink in the café and as an after-dinner drink in the restaurant.

Western-style anmitsu

  • Served in a matte black bowl, the pastry chef skillfully combines Japanese and Western ingredients to create anmitsu-style parfait.

Pairing New Tea with Sweets

  • May is the new tea season in Kyoto.
    To accompany the sweet, young, lush and special taste of new tea, Dessert Cafe Chorakukan will serve Marjolaine, a classic Western-style pastry born in France.
    A rich nut and chocolate cake made with almond and hazelnut dough and filled with chocolate praline vanilla cream.
    The refreshing sourness of Hyuho-summer, prepared in the vanilla layer, foreshadows the arrival of early summer.

Afternoon tea in the season of fresh greenery

Pound cake using specially selected matcha green tea from Ippodo Tea Shop

Prices include tax. A 10% service charge will be added to all food and beverage charges.
Room rates include 10% service charge and consumption tax. A separate accommodation charge of ¥500-1,000 per person will be added.
Dessert Cafe Chorakukan does not accept reservations for menus other than the afternoon tea set. We apologize in advance if the menu is sold out.
