Chorakukan: The Best Time in Kyoto with Maiko in a Luxurious Guest House [September 16, 2023 (Sat), fully booked] (In Japanese Only)

Introducing the First Kyoto Culture Experience Project at Chourakukan
Tosenkyo, a classic game using a fan, was popular in the Edo period (1603-1868).
Ms. Rie Onishi, our instructor, will guide us through the history of Tosenkyo and teach us the art of fun-filled throwing techniques.
You will have a truly enjoyable experience playing Tousenkyo with Maiko and dancing alongside
them in the Japanese-style room "Onari-no-Ma" (usually not accessible to the public) on the 3rd floor of Chourakukan's main building.

  • She is the fourth-generation young proprietress of Onishi Tsune Shoten, a company that has been dedicatedly crafting
    and selling the traditional art of "Kyo Sensu" since its establishment in 1913.

Reservations will be accepted until Saturday, September 9. No refunds will be accepted after reservations are confirmed.

*Children under 12 years old (not elementary school students) are not permitted.
The experience will take place in the Onari-no-Ma (Japanese-style room). You will be asked to take off your shoes, so please come with socks or bring your own.
