Western-style painting by Seisui Takagi [Geihin-no-ma].

The Rococo-style parlor and drawing room is decorated with 12 oval Western paintings.
These were painted by Takagi Seisui, a Meiji-era painter who had the honor of copying the portrait of the Meiji Emperor.
Various world landmarks are depicted, including the Imperial Bridge (Megane Bridge) in Japan, the Statue of Liberty in the United States, the Palace of Sans Souci in Germany, and the Palace of Versailles in France.
When the world's distinguished guests gathered, the paintings depicting their hometowns would surely have been a topic of conversation.
