Plaster sculpture [Le Chêne]

The stucco sculpture by Le Chene, which combines linearity with botanical grace, features not only the traditional Western motif of the acanthus, but also the oak leaf.
The oak design is probably derived from the family crest "mitsukashiwa," or three oak trees, of Kichibei Murai, the industrialist who built Chorakukan.
Oak and olive leaves are carved on either side of the relief that adorns the mirror in the center of the room.
